OCU Petition 3,000
The petition launched on Jan 20 has moved steadily past 3,000 today. This is a good result, but we need an overwhelming one, so let’s keep at it.

WCPS is implacably opposed to Sydney Water’s planned location for its OCU at Wolli Bluff (at the entry to the TVT at the eastern end of the Valley). Occasional update information will appear here. For background and links, read more here http://www.wollicreek.org.au/wolli_valley/other-issues

A June 1, 2017, a press release from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment identified Turrella, Bardwell Park, and Earlwood as one of its 15 Priority Precincts for development.
See these links to the Department’s website for their opening statements on the 15 and the specifics of the covering our valley area:

This has major implications for the Wolli Creek Regional Park (WCRP), because the areas designated for dominating high-rise and major population increases cover almost the whole of the Park area as this Composite Precinct Map shows

Finally, some good news about the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS)-owned bushland at the Bexley North end of the Valley (the ‘Western Gateway’ to the Two Valley Trail (TVT).
In mid October 2016 the ALP announced it was intending to introduce legislation into the NSW Parliament to transfer land at Bexley North, currently still owned by the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS), to the NPWS, to add to the Wolli Creek Regional Park.
Here is a link to the ALP’s press release FOLEY Wolli Creek reserve

On Sept. 7 (National Threatened Species Day!) and Sept. 8 2016, the Critically Endangered Cooks River Castlereagh Ironbark Forest bushland at Beverly Grove, Kingsgrove in the upper Wolli creek Valley was substantially destroyed for the New M5.
Now, on top of that destruction, it has come to light that despite Roads Minister Duncan Gay’s assurances in his press release in June 2015 that the Wolli creek bushland would not be impacted by the New M5, the RMS owned bushland at Bexley North, where the Two Valley Trail starts is still being considered for “future transport needs”.
Read the Society’s press release for more info. Can’t trust Gay on Wolli bushland
