Canterbury-Bankstown Council has instituted an annual Jack Mundey Environment and Heritage Award and the inaugural recipient was the Society’s own Peter Stevens. He says that it was really an award to the Society and the numerous people over several decades who have brought the Wolli Creek Regional Park into existence and near to completion, saving the natural heritage of the Wolli Valley.
Calling for nominations for the Neil Rankin Award to be given in recognition of the excellent work done over the past two years to foster children’s enjoyment and understanding of the natural world. Peter Stevens, the treasurer of the Wolli Creek Preservation Society, has won the 2011 Westpac Community Treasurers Award in the small organisations category.
We honour Peter’s tremendous contribution to the work of the Society and congratulate him on this well deserved award.
